Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Music Therapist to join our team at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System. As a Music Therapist, you will design, coordinate, and implement innovative music therapy programs for individuals in emotional distress, integrating the principles and theories of music therapy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care
    • Develop and implement music therapy plans of care, considering patients' overall skills, deficits, and levels of motivation.
    • Conduct music therapy sessions, adapting conventional techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or voluntarily carry out therapeutic activity.
    • Monitor patient behavior, symptoms, and reactions, promptly reporting pertinent information to appropriate personnel.
    • Complete daily charting, addressing patient response to coping skills taught, interventions made, and progress toward treatment objectives.
  • Collaboration and Partnership
    • Manage assigned case load, conducting sessions in a timely manner within the parameters of music therapy and other areas of expertise.
    • Provide assistance in covering weekend, evening, and holiday functions, disaster, and recovery teams, maintaining flexibility in adapting to schedule changes.
    • Develop effective working relationships, actively participating in and contributing to treatment team meetings, and collaborating with team members to expand own knowledge base and coordinate delivery of services.
    • Supervise students, peers, and others as assigned, in accordance with hospital, departmental, and school policies.
  • Quality and Regulatory
    • Contribute to departmental and hospital performance initiatives, expanding, developing, and improving programs and services according to departmental and hospital plans.
    • Observe and adhere to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures, standards of safety, quality, and infection control, submitting accurate and timely safety event reports.
    • Meet all hospital and continuing education requirements, promoting the quality and efficiency of own performance through participation in staff educational programs and approved continuing education courses.
  • Supplies, Equipment, and Facilities
    • Submit timely orders for supplies and equipment, maintaining appropriate quantities for therapy services, performing routine maintenance on supplies and equipment, and submitting orders for repair and upkeep of equipment.
    • Maintain supplies and equipment in an orderly and accessible manner, educating patients and staff on safe use, care, and storage of supplies and equipment used in music therapy.
    • Maintain a safe, sanitary, and functional environment, being a good steward of resources and using them in a prudent and efficient manner.
    Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy

Licensure: Board Certified Registered Music Therapist or Eligible; BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
