Job Summary

The Production Associate is responsible for the set up and operation of equipment which blends/mixes/packages/transports the liquid or dry chemicals that comprise our customer products. The Production Associate ensures the highest quality product at the lowest possible costs while meeting customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with Spartech policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and start all machines, checking all controls for adherence to mixing or packaging procedures.
  • Weigh ingredients to meet recipe specification and inserts into machinery.
  • Monitor production and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Troubleshoot equipment and processing issues.
  • Operate machinery to mix, discharge or handle materials according to operating procedures.
  • Examine materials visually or physically to ensure conformance with established standards.
  • May take samples of materials to lab for evaluations and instructions.
  • Refer issues/problems to lead/supervisor for disposition.
  • Perform all required machine cleaning.
  • Complete and maintain all required computer inputs. Responsible for data integrity.
  • Document work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc.
  • Participate in training, retraining and continual improvement processes and methods.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Support the vision, mission and guiding principles of the company.
  • Follow all rules, laws and procedures related to HS&E, ISO and other regulations.
Requirements
  • Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/materials.
  • Must have mathematical skill to add, subtract, multiply and divide and the apply these skill to weights, measures of volume and distance.
  • Must effectively communicate in writing and verbally, in English.
  • Competency in computer and PC software including email, internet, and MS office.
  • Must have manual dexterity for hand tools of various types.
  • Must be able to drive fork lift.
  • Must have problem solving skills and some mechanical aptitude.
Education and Experience
  • US High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of industrial experience.
