The Opportunity

Scholastic Corporation's Education Division is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Engagement Specialist to join our team on a per diem basis. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in strengthening the capacity of educators to engage families in intentional and impactful ways.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Conduct strategic planning to assess current practices and identify areas for improvement in family engagement.
  • Professional Learning: Deliver family engagement professional learning to educators, utilizing adult learning methodologies to ensure effective transfer of knowledge.
  • Coaching and Facilitation: Implement reflective coaching to support educators in transforming home-school practices connected to learning, utilizing virtual and in-person facilitation methods.
  • Culturally Responsive Practices: Maintain a high degree of expertise in effective family engagement strategies and Scholastic services, ensuring culturally relevant and responsible practices.
  • Communication and Feedback: Communicate regularly with supervisors to identify ongoing professional learning needs of schools, teams, or district staff, and provide feedback to pinpoint progress areas and development opportunities.
  • Relationship Building: Maintain professional relationships with districts, cultivate and maintain relationships with team and partners, and support school administrators and building staff to increase their content knowledge and understand their role in implementing effective family engagement processes.

Requirements

  • Education: Master's Degree (or progress toward a degree) in education or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience facilitating face-to-face professional learning in education or a community-related field.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Deep knowledge of family engagement content knowledge, including knowledge of relevant research and promising practices in family engagement, proficiency in implementing linguistically and culturally responsive teaching methodologies, and experience teaching Multi-Lingual Learners or bilingual proficiency.
  • Additional Requirements: Valid driver's license, working knowledge of Microsoft Office and PowerPoint, and experience using virtual presentation platforms such as Zoom and Teams.
