Position Overview

As a vital member of the educational team at Options For Youth, the Secondary Education Instructor plays a crucial role in shaping the academic journey of students.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Employing a diverse range of instructional methodologies and technologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Integrating educational tools and media to foster an interactive learning environment.
  • Facilitating online discussions and managing small group interactions to cater to individual student needs.
  • Organizing and maintaining the learning management system to ensure clarity and accessibility for all students.
  • Designing lesson plans that incorporate a differentiated curriculum aimed at promoting student achievement.
  • Instructing students to achieve mastery of established educational standards.
  • Utilizing assessments and data analytics to inform instructional strategies for improved student performance.
  • Maintaining accurate records of grades, attendance, and student retention.
  • Providing specialized support for students with unique learning requirements, including those in special education and English Language Learners.
  • Engaging in community outreach, attending faculty meetings, educational conferences, and professional development workshops.
  • Collaborating with students and parents to discuss academic progress and address any concerns.
  • Participating in extracurricular activities, such as student organizations or committees.
  • Assisting with state-mandated assessments and compliance audits.
  • Contributing to the maintenance of a welcoming and professional educational environment.
  • Executing additional administrative tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient in teaching and empowering students to take on responsibilities.
  • Experience or education in digital teaching or online learning preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of a specific subject area.
  • Ability to work autonomously and efficiently in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment with minimal oversight.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to implement educational initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform well under pressure while maintaining professionalism.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and database management systems.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid teaching credential and authorization for English Language instruction required.
  • Preferred subject area expertise in English, Mathematics, Sciences, or Social Sciences.
