As a nonprofit community hospital, we offer a full complement of award-winning services, including the Leavey Cancer Center, a cardiovascular center, and the Center for Assault Treatment Services.



We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic Microbiology department. This position plays a vital role in providing accurate and timely diagnostic testing to support patient care.



Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of microbiological tests, including:
    • Bacterial culture and identification
    • Antimicrobial susceptibility testing
    • Fungal culture and identification
    • Parasitological examinations
    • Molecular diagnostic testing (PCR, etc.)

  • Prepare and maintain culture media and reagents
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes, incubators, and automated systems
    • Ensure proper specimen handling and processing
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed
    • Adhere to strict quality control procedures and safety protocols
    • Participate in departmental quality assurance activities
    • Collaborate effectively with other laboratory personnel and clinical staff
    • Assist with training and mentoring of new staff members


Qualifications
  • One year of experience as a Lab Assistant or Technician in a clinical laboratory is preferred.
  • An AA degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, including a minimum of 36 semester units of physical or biological science from an accredited college or university.
  • Current CA MLT license is required.
  • Current Los Angeles City fire card is required.
