Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Sub-Chief of Physical Medicine, the Acupuncturist utilizes acupuncture techniques to stimulate specific points on the body, preventing or modifying pain perception and normalizing physiological functions.

Responsibilities include performing or prescribing oriental massage, acupressure, breathing techniques, exercise, and nutrition, incorporating drugless substances and herbs as dietary supplements to promote health.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides medically necessary acupuncture, consultations, assessments, and treatments upon request from family physicians or specialists.
  • Conducts accurate diagnoses, supported by medical findings based on standardized examination and techniques accepted by the medical community.
  • Documents all treatments and patient responses to acupuncture therapy on patient charts.
  • When working in the Workers Compensation system, provides opinions on whether anatomic loss, functional loss, and physical complaints are work-related, and writes comprehensive medical reports.
Secondary Functions:

Acupuncture experienced provider recommended.

Basic Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited school with a minimum of 1548 hours of education, including biology, organic biochemistry, physics, psychology, anatomy, and physiology, pathology, nutrition, and vitamins.

Acupuncturist License (California) and National Provider Identifier required at hire.

Additional Requirements:

Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Post-graduate degree preferred, such as Ph.D. in related fields, N.D. (Doctor of Naturopathy), or D.O.M. (Doctor of Oriental Medicine).
