Job Summary

Under the direction of the Sub-Chief of Physical Medicine, this role utilizes acupuncture to stimulate specific points on the body to prevent or modify pain perception and normalize physiological functions. The Acupuncturist may perform or prescribe oriental massage, acupressure, breathing techniques, exercise, or nutrition, including the use of herbs as dietary supplements to promote health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides medically necessary acupuncture, consultations, assessments, and treatments as requested by family physicians or specialists.
  • Accurately diagnoses patients based on standardized examination and techniques accepted by the medical community, including Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western diagnostic techniques.
  • Documents all treatments and patient responses to acupuncture therapy on patient charts.
  • When working in the Workers Compensation system, states an opinion on whether anatomic loss, functional loss, and physical complaints are work-related and writes a comprehensive medical report.
Secondary Functions
  • Acupuncture experienced provider recommended.
  • Variable schedule, Monday to Friday.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school with a minimum of 1548 hours of education, including theory and clinical training.
  • Acupuncturist License (California) and National Provider Identifier required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post-graduate degree in a related field, such as Ph.D. or N.D.
