Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Biller and Collector to join our team at Riveredge Hospital. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate follow-up of all assigned accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Timely and accurately follow up on all assigned accounts to ensure maximum reimbursement.
  • Submit reports to the CFO/Business Office Manager as assigned, providing detailed information on account status and payment discrepancies.
  • Perform various clerical responsibilities as may be assigned, including maintaining collection files, monitoring for accuracy, and documenting all open accounts.
  • Develop and maintain a reminder system to ensure prompt follow-up on all accounts.
  • Document every contact made to or by third-party payers, patients, family members, or employees.
  • Advise the Business Office Manager and/or CFO of problem accounts at the time of encounter, while monitoring and recording all payments made on accounts.
  • Maintain neat, legible, and chronological documentation of all collection and follow-up activity.
  • Process manual revenue reports at month-end to support billing submissions.
  • Balance these reports with billing submissions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare Bad Debt Write-offs and other adjustments as required.
  • Report any non-covered or inadequately covered patients to the relevant parties.
  • Work with Utilization Management to maximize payables and perform third-party and self-pay follow-up as required.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in business or finance.
  • Alternatively, equivalent experience in the billing and collections field.
  • At least two years of experience in a medical facility business office or UM with collections responsibilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of funding sources and government reimbursement protocols.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Able to pass hospital background check, including credit component.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
