About Jeremiah Program

Jeremiah Program is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping single mothers achieve economic mobility by providing access to higher education, affordable childcare, housing, skills training, and career development.

Job Summary

The Family Coaching Specialist will provide transformative coaching to Jeremiah Program participants, helping them secure foundational basic needs, complete higher education, and ensure their children flourish in education and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coaching
    • Recognize the deep humanity of the Jeremiah Program mom and enable the conditions for safe, judgment-free reflection that is rooted in an understanding of the systemic barriers that affect single moms experiencing poverty.
    • Co-develop individual goal plans for participants to provoke self-discovery and personal growth; engage in goal setting and meaningful action.
    • Coach participants by encouraging agency, promoting alignment between their personal values and actions, and generating innovative solutions using empowerment techniques.
    • Through coaching, act as an accountability partner to participants as they strive towards their self-determined individual goals and navigate the systems to achieve economic mobility.
    • Provide support, crisis intervention, guidance, and resource referrals to address a variety of barriers to the student-parent journey, including housing, legal services, immigration, finances, food security, and more.
    • Reinforce program concepts and tools learned in Jeremiah Program programming.
  • Program Facilitation and Delivery
    • Work closely with the Family Services Director to deliver high-quality programming that is responsive and meaningful in supporting moms in their journeys.
    • Collaborate with Participant Council Leaders, partnering with participants to take active roles in programming and the community.
    • Understand and apply program policies, protocols, and processes, tracking participant progress and outcomes and providing redirection and follow-up where applicable.
    • Provide parent programming occasionally held on evenings or weekends.
    • Support community partnerships and events.
    • Assist in planning Graduation and other participant events.
    • Contribute to and learn from multiple professional communities at the local site and across Jeremiah Program, collaborating across the organization to learn, plan, and improve.
  • Program Operations
    • Maintain efficient, confidential, and organized records in the organizational database to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
    • Oversee and execute the data collection strategy that allows Jeremiah Program to make data-informed decisions about ongoing efforts to support moms deeply.
  • Referral Partner and New Family Cultivation Management
    • Create, manage, and maintain outreach and referral partner database in support of strong, aligned partnerships and Jeremiah Program's role in the service ecosystem.
    • Create, manage, and maintain ongoing database of prospective families and ensure they are consistently engaged before they apply to Jeremiah Program, resulting in a steady pipeline and/or wait list for multiple E&L cycles.
    • Coordinate and support the planning of key outreach activities (info sessions, partner open houses, etc.).
    • Curate the incoming family E&L experience, including confirming course sign-up, journal pick-up, welcome baskets, etc., to support persistence.
  • Volunteer Engagement and Management
    • Manage high-impact family-facing volunteer initiatives such as Career Volunteer Mentor Program.
    • Partner with campus Operations Manager and program leaders to fulfill specific parent and student needs, including but not limited to school supplies, holiday gifts, and graduation experience.
  • Other Program Partnership Supports as Required
    • Develop, cultivate, and manage both emerging and established community partners (e.g., colleges, local businesses, corporations, nonprofits, neighborhood organizations, etc.), as identified with local and CST leadership.
    • Manage the implementation and tracking of key cross-generational programming or offerings such as summer camp enrollment, academic tutoring, reading or SEL partnerships.
    • Liaise between CDC and Family Services directors to ensure that coordination on key activities such as family goal setting and parent conferences is effective and consistent.
    • Coordinate and track out-of-school supports.
    • Other Duties as Assigned: This job description provides a comprehensive overview of the role's responsibilities, but it's essential to note that duties, responsibilities, and activities may evolve with or without prior notice.
    Requirements

    • 3+ years of related professional experience, ideally in education or non-profits.
    • At least two years of coaching experience, preferably with coursework or training in life, family, or executive coaching.
    • Results-oriented approach to work; can be trusted to complete work timely and with quality outputs.
    • Proven experience as a well-organized self-starter, able to prioritize multiple needs and expectations independently and successfully.
    • Able to remain flexible and agile in a constantly changing environment.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage concurrent workstreams.
    • Strong judgment on how to ensure stakeholders are appropriately informed of progress, potential obstacles, and outcomes.
    • Strong ability to interact effectively with diverse groups, and be at ease building successful collaborations with program participants, staff, and stakeholders.
    • Understanding of the impact of structural inequities that lead to generational poverty.
    • Demonstrate strong project management and problem-solving skills in pursuit of outcomes for families.
