Preoperative PACU Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Preoperative PACU Nurse to join our team at Florida Medical Clinic. As a Preoperative PACU Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the preoperative and post-anesthesia care units.
Key Responsibilities:- Process pre-procedure patients efficiently
- Initiate documented procedure verification process
- Identify patients with 2 identifiers: verbally and compares armband and medical record
- Verify consent
- Obtain thorough medical history and assess patient
- Notify physician/anesthesia of any medical conditions with potential for adverse outcome
- Obtain comprehensive medication list
- Obtain pregnancy waiver signature or performs urine pregnancy test when indicated
- Initiate intravenous line
- Provide patient education
- Provide post-anesthesia care
- Ensure appropriate monitoring
- Perform timely assessments and interventions
- Communicate with physician/anesthesia pertinent issues/changes in patient condition
- Discharge when criteria met and according to physician order
- Provide documented discharge education
- Ensure Recovery Room staffing standards are maintained
- Document in the medical record
- Notes and follows through with physician orders
- Manage medication administration according to physician order
- Conduct patient pre-procedure phone calls
- Perform diagnostic tests upon physician order
- 12 lead EKG's
- Phlebotomy/blood draws
- Schedules additional tests as ordered
- Follows universal precautions
- Completes occurrence reports when indicated within shift of occurrence
- Retrieves and reviews documents from PENTAX dictation system, Intergy and Intergy iEHR, as necessary
- Adheres to all FMC and unit policies and procedures
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and CQI teams
- Maintains unit training requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Current Florida RN licensure REQUIRED
- Current BLS and ACLS
- Strong customer service orientation
- Excellent Communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency
- Experience in an ASC is preferred but not required
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- Normal physical ability; able to sit and stand for long periods
- Normal concentration and normal complexity of decision making
- High level verbal and written communication skills
- Above average ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- High risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards
