Job Summary

The Product Design Specialist at Kaleidoscope will be responsible for developing creative and technically superior engineering solutions. This role involves designing products, parts, and assemblies, creating detailed CAD models, and developing product documentation that supports high-quality production.

About the Role

This position requires a strong understanding of design principles, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
  • Design Solutions (40%): Develop innovative designs that meet functional requirements, generate new ideas, and adjust designs based on feedback.
  • Quality/Continuous Improvement (30%): Deliver flawless products, manage deliverables and timing, and ensure quality meets Kaleidoscope's standards.
  • Performance Management (10%): Participate in management of scope, schedule, and cost, check own work and that of peers, and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Client Interaction (10%): Present to internal and external audiences, represent Kaleidoscope positively, and handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Research (10%): Participate in project research and brainstorming teams, attend meetings with clients, and objectively observe user research inputs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related fields.
  • 0-3 years of professional experience in engineering and product development.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD.
  • Basic knowledge of geometric tolerance analysis.
  • Proficient in documentation, dimensioning, and specification writing.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work collaboratively, and maintain a detail-oriented work style.
Working Conditions

This role requires minimal travel (up to 25% of the time) and involves working in both an office and laboratory setting. The incumbent must have digital dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and body motor skills sufficient to move around the office environment.

Estimated salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
