About the Role

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed School Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing academic and behavioral support to students with emotional and behavioral challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Individualized Support: Offer one-on-one counseling sessions to students to help them overcome interpersonal or family problems that may be impacting their academic performance.
  • Collaborate with Educators: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes student success.
  • Develop and Implement IEPs: Create and update Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans (PBIPs) to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Conduct Assessments and Interventions: Conduct interviews with students, family members, and school personnel to gather information required to assess student social, emotional, and behavioral adjustment to school and the community.
  • Provide Crisis Intervention: Offer crisis intervention consultation as needed to support students and their families during times of crisis.
  • Communicate with Parents: Maintain regular contact with students' parents/guardians to inform them of their child's progress, areas of difficulty, and any changes or situations in home life that may affect school performance.
  • Participate in IEP Meetings: Attend and participate in IEP team meetings, facilitating as needed, to ensure that student needs are met and goals are achieved.
  • Collaborate with Community Agencies: Work with education and social services professionals to develop appropriate agency services for students and their families.
  • Provide Case Management: Coordinate parent meetings, emergency transportation requests, disciplinary actions, and coordination with outside therapists to ensure student needs are met.
  • Support Teachers and Staff: Provide guidance, consultation, and assistance to teachers in the development of classroom schedules, maintenance of student data systems, and facilitation of student transition plans.
  • Assess Student Progress: Consistently review classroom data collection and recording systems to assess student progress and provide applicable training and guidance to classroom staff.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree or Higher: A Master's degree or higher in educational counseling, therapy, social work, or a closely related field is required.
  • Licensure or Credentials: Meet state and district requirements for appropriate licensing or credentials, including but not limited to: Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), and others.
  • Experience Working with Students: Prior experience working with students with emotional disorders and challenging behaviors in an education or classroom setting is preferred.
  • Advanced Communication and Problem-Solving Skills: Possess advanced oral and written communication, instruction, curriculum, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Relevant Technology: Have knowledge of relevant technology, including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
