Job Summary

The Inpatient Unit Hospice Aide plays a vital role in providing compassionate care to patients and their families. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment, ensuring the comfort and well-being of our patients, and providing support to our clinical staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional patient care, including answering call buttons, following cleaning and service instructions, and assisting with family needs and post-mortem care.
  • Ensure the center is maintained in a clean and sanitary condition, adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Assist with laundry, linen management, and supply replenishment, ensuring that all areas of the center are well-stocked and organized.
  • Collaborate with the Hospice Director of Clinical Services to develop and implement cleaning and service schedules, ensuring that all areas of the center meet our high standards.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance your skills and knowledge, staying up-to-date on the latest best practices in hospice care.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training highly preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, and external parties.
  • Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English, with a strong commitment to embracing the Compassus philosophy and promoting positive working relationships within the company and with external stakeholders.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions. Adaptations can be made to accommodate team members with disabilities. Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity are fundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

This role requires working in a healthcare setting, exposing team members to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and conditions typical to the field. Routine use of standard medical equipment and tools associated with clinical care is essential.
