About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director for Communications and Strategy to join our team at the State of Maryland. As a key member of our Communications Office, you will play a critical role in supporting the Director of Communications and driving our strategic communications efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead Communications Team: Manage a team of content managers to create and maintain high-quality, strategy-driven messaging for all departments.
  2. Operational Support: Provide operational support in the management of procurement activities, including contract monitoring and communications collateral requisition.
  3. Communications Materials: Develop and distribute communications materials, including messaging strategies and campaigns.
  4. Community Engagement: Manage community engagement-related activities, including strategy development, event planning, message development, and monitoring partnerships.
Requirements
  1. Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in English/Writing or Political Science.
  2. Experience: Three years of experience in Communications or Marketing, with a preference for experience in local, state, and/or federal government in Communications.
