YOUR ROLE

As a member of the Aegis Modernization Team in San Diego, you will contribute to the integration testing of the Aegis Combat System for DDG-51 and CG-47 Class vessels in the capacity of a Weapons Control Systems Test and Integration Engineer.

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the operational readiness of the Aegis Weapons Control System to facilitate Combat System testing during modernization efforts.

Upon completion of your training, your specific duties will include:

  • Ensuring the operational status of the Weapons Control System (WCS) and Fire Control System (FCS) equipment, including the associated software and interfaces, to support all testing activities.
  • Providing regular updates to the AWS Lead Engineer/Test Directors as necessary.
  • Reviewing current testing protocols, suggesting improvements, and documenting any discrepancies for future reference.
  • Executing Test Procedures and Plans to validate radar performance during both in-port and at-sea evaluations, while generating comprehensive test reports.
  • Analyzing test outcomes and communicating findings to support functional assessments of the Aegis Weapons Control System.
  • Collaborating with In-Service Engineering Agencies (ISEA), Combat System Engineering Agents (CSEA), and Software Support Activities (SSA) to investigate and resolve WCS and FCS system issues.
  • Leading troubleshooting efforts for WCS/FCS equipment, interfaces, configurations, and software problems, while documenting any discrepancies.
  • Assisting Navy personnel in familiarization with Weapons Control System equipment, maintenance, and operational procedures.
Relocation assistance is subject to customer/program approval.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience with complex military hardware/software and testing methodologies, along with the ability to analyze and report test results.
  • A solid understanding of the theory and operation of computer/network/hardware systems for military weapon delivery and control.
  • Familiarity with LINUX/UNIX operating systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
  • Physical capability to work aboard U.S. Navy vessels and support brief underway periods.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
Desired Skills:

  • Operational and hardware experience with the Aegis Weapons Control System or Aegis Fire Control System.
  • Experience in data extraction and analysis related to the Aegis Weapons Control System.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Navy preventive and corrective maintenance protocols and proficiency in interpreting technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with large-scale Ship Integration and Test practices.
  • Experience working with U.S. Navy personnel and understanding the Navy command structure.
  • A foundational understanding of basic electrical test equipment.

Electrical Test Equipment:
Proficiency with oscilloscopes, power meters, vector/scalar network analyzers, and other relevant testing instruments.
Experience in troubleshooting fiber optic, cabling, power, and cooling issues within equipment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, complemented by effective written and verbal communication skills.
Security Clearance Statement: This role necessitates a government security clearance; candidates must be U.S. Citizens for consideration.

Compensation:


The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Washington, or Washington D.C. is $67,400 - $129,300.
