We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Audit Intern to join our Audit Services team at KPMG. As an Audit Intern, you will play a key role in conducting financial statement audits and serving the capital markets by ensuring the accuracy and reliability of client financial information.
Responsibilities
As an Audit Intern, you will be responsible for working as part of a team to conduct financial statement audits, including reviewing financial results, relevant external information, and current business trends. You will also be responsible for developing an understanding of client-specific risks and contributing to the overall effectiveness of our clients' operations while maintaining the highest standards of professional integrity.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
• Preparing clear and well-structured audit documentation regarding our understanding of clients' processes and technology systems
• Executing and documenting testing of client controls and financial statement account balances using appropriate standards and terminology
• Supporting the execution of a high-quality audit through the performance of assigned tasks and professional client and engagement team interactions
• Supporting the use of Data and Analytics (D&A) in the audit, including data extraction and analysis; utilizing a range of technologies and data analysis tools to execute substantive audit procedures, including artificial intelligence (AI), Excel, Alteryx, SQL, Python, and Power BI
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in a relevant field, such as accounting, finance, or business. You must also have a strong understanding of financial reporting standards and be able to navigate various computer applications, including MS Office (emphasis on Excel).
Preferred qualifications include coursework or a minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics, as well as experience with data analysis tools such as Alteryx or Power BI. You must also be able to demonstrate a quality service mindset, strong communication, time management, and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to employ sound professional judgment and professional skepticism.
