Parks Maintenance and Operations Supervisor Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Parks Maintenance and Operations Supervisor to join our team at the City of Leander, TX. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of our parks and recreation facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean, and well-maintained for the community to enjoy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage a team of maintenance staff to ensure the efficient and effective maintenance of parks and recreation facilities.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and plans to ensure the upkeep of facilities and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of parks and facilities to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure seamless operations and maintenance of parks and facilities.
  • Manage budgets and resources to ensure effective use of funds and equipment.
  • Develop and implement training programs for maintenance staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to parks and recreation maintenance.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or higher in a related field, such as parks and recreation, maintenance, landscaping, or management.
  • Minimum of three years of full-time experience in a related field, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Valid Commercial Class A Driver's License from any U.S. state, with the ability to obtain a Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.
  • Pesticide Applicator License, or the ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
  • Pool Operators Certification, or the ability to obtain it within one year of employment.
  • Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification, or the ability to obtain it within one year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in management or landscaping and maintenance.
  • Five or more years of related experience.
  • One or more years of supervisory experience.
  • One or more years of experience working with arboricultural and horticultural best practices.
  • Experience working for a government entity such as a City, County, or a State agency.
