Patient Care Technician Associate

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician Associate to join our team at the University of Michigan. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care and support to patients, families, and healthcare providers.
Responsibilities- Obtain vital signs, temperature, height/length, weight, oxygen saturation, and pain scores, and report abnormal values to the Registered Nurse.
- Respond to monitor alarms and utilize palpation/auscultation and Doppler to determine heart rate and blood pressure.
- Measure and record intake and output, and function as a sitter.
- Assist with diagnostic procedures, specimen collection, and ECG electrode application.
- Perform point of care testing, maintain and calibrate equipment, and collect blood specimens.
- Discontinue peripheral IVs, remove peripheral IV dressings, and prime peripheral and central/pressure heparin set-ups.
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, provide toileting/bedpan/urinal, and remove/empty foley catheters.
- Accompany, escort, ambulate, move, turn, dangle, lift, transport, and attend/hold/position patients.
- Provide patient nourishment, perform tube feedings, and assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Document care provided, perform 12-lead ECG, and maintain orderliness of patient rooms and units.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and one of the following: junior status in an accredited BSN program, 2nd year in accredited ADN program, Bachelor's Degree in Applied Medical Science, or a minimum 1-year recent experience in an unlicensed assistive role in a patient care setting.
- Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities, including moving, transporting, and positioning patients and equipment.
