Role Overview

We are in search of a skilled and motivated Custodian to become a vital part of our dynamic team. This role is essential for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of our facilities. The Custodian will report directly to the General Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of the premises and equipment.
  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance on facility systems, including plumbing, lighting, HVAC, and minor electrical and structural repairs.
  • Oversee the repair of mechanical processing equipment or coordinate with external vendors.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans for the facility.
  • Manage waste service providers and ensure compliance with waste management protocols.
  • Submit and track maintenance requests using the facility management system.
  • Maintain an inventory of necessary spare parts and tools to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to prepare repair estimates and budget for facility improvements.
  • Assist with capital projects and coordinate subcontractor repairs and enhancements.
  • Work closely with Corporate Real Estate to facilitate facility upgrades.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with other Facility Managers to discuss ongoing projects and improvements.
  • Adhere to stringent sanitation practices throughout the facility.
  • Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, garbage disposal, and vacuuming.
  • Execute any additional tasks as assigned by the General Manager and Corporate Facilities Manager to ensure the facility operates smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Experience in facility maintenance or a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting as well as independently.
  • Proficient in the use of power tools and common hand tools.
  • Capable of disassembling machinery and equipment to replace defective components.
  • Able to interpret blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as needed.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including off-hours as required.
  • Preferred certifications relevant to the role.
