Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Inspector to join our team at Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP. As a leading provider of infrastructure and building design services, we are committed to delivering high-quality projects that improve the world.

As a Construction Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. Your expertise will be essential in managing and performing daily construction management and inspection services for various types of transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and perform daily construction management and inspection services for transportation projects
  • Perform field inspections to ensure compliance with contract documents
  • Prepare daily and weekly reports on work accomplished by contractors
  • Perform materials testing and maintain testing logs
  • Review periodic pay estimates for accuracy with contractors
  • Prepare sketches and assemble data for engineer's use in making changes to the project
  • Keep diaries and make reports on work accomplished and/or noted deficiencies
  • Perform sophisticated mathematical calculations
  • Review contractor schedules, including initial CPM and monthly updates
  • Communicate effectively with engineers, owners, and project teams on a regular basis

Requirements:

  • Inspector Trainee: 0-2 years of specific field construction inspection experience
  • Inspector: Minimum of three (3) years of specific field construction inspection experience
  • Senior Inspector: Minimum of six (6) years of specific field construction inspection experience
  • Inspection skills, including experience with roadway and bridge construction, utility construction, and related pavement rehabilitation projects
  • Additional training or certifications, including VDOT materials certifications and ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certification
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • High school diploma or state equivalency certificate; bachelor's degree or other advanced certificate desirable
  • Good communication skills and ability to read/interpret plans and specifications
  • Writing and drawing skills necessary to complete inspection reports and documentation
  • Basic computer skills (Word & Excel) desirable
