Job Description

The Database Administrator is a critical role at CyrusOne, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our database platforms. This position requires a strong understanding of database administration, including database design, installation, configuration, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of application database and relational database system engineering projects
  • Represent CyrusOne in a professional manner while interacting with internal customers, vendors, and partners
  • Understand the company's backup requirements and implement effective backup and restore procedures
  • Document all aspects of CyrusOne's Infrastructure environment and provide technical guidance to team members
  • Troubleshoot product, database, and environment issues, including disk usage, CPUs, SQL Query issues, and I/O bottlenecks
  • Develop, implement, and manage ETL processes to ensure optimization and best practices
  • Provide recommendations for performance tuning analysis, capacity planning, workload modeling, and forecasting
Requirements
  • 3-5+ years of IT experience in a high-tech distributed environment, data center environment highly preferred
  • Strong SQL, PL/SQL, and SQL development experience
  • Proven experience in managing mid-to-large-scale SQL Server databases in a production environment
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL Server database administration, including database design, installation, configuration, and maintenance
  • Proven experience with complex software and strong understanding of troubleshooting techniques
  • Strong project management skills, mature organization, and time management skills
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
Education/Certifications
  • Master's or bachelor's degree in data engineering, computer science, or a related technical degree preferred
  • Certification in SQL Server administration (e.g., MCSA: SQL Server or MCSE: Data Management and Analytics) is preferred
