Talen Energy is seeking a highly skilled Plant Technician - Fuel Operations Specialist to join our team at the Brandon Shores Power Plant in Baltimore, MD. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of fuel handling equipment, including barge unloaders, stacker/reclaimers, and conveyor systems.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain fuel handling equipment, including bulldozers, loaders, and barge unloaders, to ensure safe and efficient fuel unloading and reclaiming operations.
- Perform routine maintenance on fuel handling equipment, including inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs, to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with production supervisors and other team members to ensure seamless operations and achieve production goals.
- Develop and implement procedures to improve fuel handling efficiency and reduce costs.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge in fuel handling operations and maintenance.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in fuel handling operations and maintenance, preferably in a power plant or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repair techniques.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) if required.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and overtime, as needed.
The Plant Technician - Fuel Operations Specialist will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with exposure to various weather conditions, dust, and noise. The position requires the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions.
Physical DemandsThe Plant Technician - Fuel Operations Specialist must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a physically demanding environment.
Education and ExperienceA minimum of 2 years of experience in fuel handling operations and maintenance, preferably in a power plant or industrial setting, is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is also required.
Skills and Competencies- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repair techniques.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions.
