Clinical Instructor, Vocational Nursing

Stanbridge University is seeking a dedicated faculty member to deliver clinical education in the area of Vocational Nursing with a focus on Obstetrics (VN-Obstetrics).

Under the supervision of the Vocational Nursing Program Director, the faculty member will utilize their expertise to provide clinical instruction in accordance with an established course syllabus, employing effective teaching methodologies to enhance student engagement and satisfaction.

The instructor will be responsible for evaluating student performance throughout the course and maintaining comprehensive documentation of all educational activities within the timelines set by the institution.


Key Responsibilities:
Deliver clinical and theoretical instruction effectively, utilizing provided course materials.

Develop innovative teaching strategies to engage students and foster clinical judgment skills in practical settings.

Implement clinical judgment models and theoretical frameworks to assess students' clinical competencies.

Facilitate learning experiences that encourage the application of theoretical knowledge, active participation in patient care management, and engagement in professional nursing roles during clinical practice.

Ensure patient safety and adherence to institutional policies established by clinical partners. Serve as a clinical resource by managing pre- and post-conference discussions, encouraging students to reflect on their clinical experiences.

Create a professional environment that fosters student success by embodying essential nursing characteristics such as:
accountability, adaptability, enthusiasm, and integrity.

Support student achievement by demonstrating flexibility in teaching style and schedule, while showcasing a passion for education and student engagement.

Maintain and submit accurate records of student grades, reports, attendance, and feedback in a timely manner. Stay current with knowledge related to nursing practices and responsibilities. Participate actively in departmental meetings and governance committees.

Qualifications:
Possession of a current and active California Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license is required. A Bachelor's degree is mandatory. A minimum of four (4) years of bedside or clinical nursing experience within the last five (5) years is essential. Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is required. Previous experience in a VN-Obstetrics (OB) environment, hospitals, or skilled nursing facilities is preferred. Teaching experience is advantageous.

Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Up-to-date immunization records are required.

Physical Requirements:
The incumbent frequently sits for extended periods. Must possess the physical ability to perform assigned duties. Proficient in operating electronic keyboards and other office equipment. Effective verbal communication skills are necessary for answering telephones and providing clear information. Ability to read fine print and operate computers accurately. Must be able to comprehend spoken communication in person and over the phone. Capable of lifting, carrying, and/or moving objects weighing between 10-25 pounds as necessary.
