Position Overview
Under general supervision, the Educational Support Specialist will assist educators in delivering instruction to students with learning disabilities, both individually and in group settings, within a specialized educational environment. This role encompasses a variety of instructional and administrative tasks, as well as other responsibilities related to student support.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist in the educational development of students with learning challenges by implementing effective instructional strategies.
2. Perform clerical duties such as typing, filing, and maintaining student records.
3. Support the teacher in managing classroom activities and maintaining a positive learning atmosphere.
Essential Skills and Abilities
1. Demonstrate a mature, constructive, and positive demeanor in a classroom setting.
2. Quickly learn and apply relevant procedures and functions with minimal supervision.
3. Understand the fundamental principles of child development and possess a genuine affinity for working with students.
4. Maintain accurate records and execute routine clerical tasks efficiently.
5. Follow oral and written instructions effectively and establish productive working relationships with colleagues and students.
Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma, along with the necessary knowledge and skills outlined above. Candidates must possess an Associate's degree or have completed 48 college units.
