Job Summary

Cayuga Health System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by testing and analyzing blood and other body substances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and test specimens, including proficiency testing and manual procedures, and report results according to protocol
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot complex equipment used in diagnostic testing
  • Utilize complex information systems to collect and interpret data
  • Perform and interpret quality control measures to ensure accurate results
  • Maintain a compliant environment, adhering to all lab and hospital procedures, NYS, TJC, HIPAA standards, infection control, and safety guidelines
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities, and maintain inter-and intra-departmental workflow by cooperating with others
  • Maintain adequate inventory and conserve resources
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent) and Registered as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist by American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent
  • Meets NYS Department of Health requirements and is currently licensed as a Clinical Lab Scientist
  • Prior laboratory experience is preferred
  • Problem-solving ability and attention to detail is preferred
  • Good written and oral communication skills are preferred
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes
Physical Requirements

May require light lifting and carrying, including boxes, equipment, stooping, and kneeling. Must be able to physically operate automation used in the job.
