As a Wind Energy Operations Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the comprehensive operations and upkeep of multiple wind energy facilities. Your primary focus will be to ensure safety and optimize operational efficiency in alignment with our mission.
This position entails the safe execution of planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks, along with conducting training and safety drills. You will also be responsible for maintaining the readiness of tools, equipment, and vehicles, providing technical support to the Operations & Maintenance team, and meticulously tracking service activities through our digital maintenance management system.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure all operational and maintenance tasks are conducted safely, adhering to established policies and procedures for the wind energy site.
2. Assist in the execution of acceptance and performance testing on systems and equipment following maintenance or outages.
3. Perform safety-related tasks and support other RWE sites as needed.
4. Aid in turbine maintenance, including servicing, major component replacements, and troubleshooting.
5. Support Balance of Plant procedures, including maintenance of substations and collection systems.
6. Uphold the company's core values and behaviors.
7. Undertake additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years in operations and/or maintenance within power generation, transmission, or distribution is required. Experience with GE 1.X is preferred.
Alternatively, candidates with a 2 or 4-year degree in a technical field such as engineering or physics may be considered.
Licenses or certifications such as Current Journeyman, Current Master Electrician License, or Wind Tech Certificate are advantageous.
Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to relocate within a reasonable distance from the site.
Physical requirements include the ability to maintain a personal weight limit of 270 lbs, climb wind towers daily, and navigate confined spaces safely.
Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are essential.
Work Environment:
The role involves working in various settings, including office environments, warehouses, and outdoor locations around energized wind turbine generators and related equipment.
