Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Explaining procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation and understanding
  • Administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques
  • Preparing equipment and assisting physicians during treatment and examination of patients
  • Maintaining awareness of patient comfort and safety needs
  • Observing patients, recording significant conditions and reactions, and notifying supervisors or physicians of patient conditions and reactions to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents
  • Taking vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess patient condition
  • Responding to life-saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol
  • Documenting nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients
  • Initiating patient education plans according to individualized patient needs, as prescribed by physicians and/or hospital policy
