Job Summary

The Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking a skilled Construction Inspector to join our Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) team. This position will support various transportation projects with the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Transportation, working on infrastructure development and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all materials, procedures, and safety rules comply with the latest VDOT standards and regulations.
  • Sample and test construction materials to ensure they meet quality requirements of the project specifications.
  • Material sampling of concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and aggregates.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with colleagues and client representatives.
  • Attend meetings and interact with client and third-party personnel.
  • Use diplomacy in difficult and stressful situations.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Survey preferred.
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience in materials, standards, and specifications related to VDOT projects and facilities required.
  • Must complete specific safety courses and core construction inspection courses within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong math calculation skills, MS Office experience, and written and communication skills required.
  • Valid Driver's License with a safe driving record.

Physical Demands

This position requires minimal lifting of up to 50 pounds, frequent travel, and touring work sites under adverse environmental conditions. The employee must be able to visually examine construction materials and finished structures and work in various types of weather and field conditions.

Expected Hours of Work

This position is full-time (40 hours per week) with office hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. While overtime is generally not anticipated, occasional projects or deadlines may necessitate additional hours.
