Job Overview
Centers for Independence is seeking a skilled Crisis Intervention Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for providing critical support to individuals experiencing mental health crises, working closely with law enforcement, family members, and other service providers to ensure the best possible outcomes.

About the Role
The Crisis Intervention Specialist will be based at our Waukesha location, serving adults in crisis and working collaboratively with community partners to provide prevention and intervention services. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess medical needs of adults brought to the CRC who are in immediate psychiatric distress.
  • Triage individuals needing a higher level of care to the appropriate services.
  • Intervene in medical emergencies per protocol.
  • Engage individuals in determining personal needs and wants, strengths, and intervention strategies.
  • Link individuals with appropriate community services addressing underlying causes of mental health crises.

Requirements
This role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and current WI nursing license. At least one year of experience working with adults with severe and frequent mental illness is essential. Knowledge of mental illness, substance use disorders, psychopharmacology, and evidence-based practices specific to client needs is also required.
