Facility Maintenance Technician

Berman is a fast-paced, growing Property Management and Construction firm seeking a dedicated individual with a positive attitude who is ready to build a career in Facility Management.

As an Assistant Facility Manager, you will report directly to the Facility Manager and play a vital role in maintaining our commercial/healthcare facility. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $45K - $55K per year, commensurate with experience, along with comprehensive benefits after a brief waiting period.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of the facility. Collaborate with the cleaning crew to address any issues and assist with cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Utilize manuals, websites, and instructional videos to research equipment, parts lists, fault codes, and repair processes. Continuously learn and apply new concepts.
  • Employ critical thinking and mechanical aptitude to identify root causes of problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors, reviewing their work and ensuring adherence to standards. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with tenants.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and write clear procedures for various tasks.
  • Manage assigned projects from problem identification to solution implementation, including cleanup and performance monitoring.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations as needed.
Qualifications
  • Formal education in a technical trade or relevant experience in commercial/residential construction or repair. HVAC knowledge is essential.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and a strong desire to understand how systems work.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., use ladders up to 30 feet, work in confined spaces, operate a backpack vacuum, and utilize hand tools and equipment safely.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to work independently, using sound judgment and discretion to complete tasks, projects, and assignments effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse individuals.
