Overview:
The CDC Foundation is on the lookout for qualified candidates for the Clinical Laboratory Manager position.

In this role, under administrative guidance, the individual will manage the comprehensive operations of a laboratory, utilizing extensive expertise to independently conduct high-complexity laboratory analyses on biological samples related to public health investigations, alongside performing essential tasks related to sample testing and result reporting.


Qualifications:

  • Licensed laboratory professional qualification; or a combination of education, training, and experience that is equivalent.
  • Preferred certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or equivalent.
  • Proficient in the use of clinical laboratory equipment, procedures, techniques, and quality assurance practices.
  • Knowledgeable in the handling of hazardous materials and compliance with safety regulations, including OSHA, CLIA, CAP, FDA, and EPA standards.
  • Experience in a medical laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Background in emergency response management and safety program oversight.
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant regulations and policies effectively.
  • Strong judgment skills to plan and execute laboratory tasks within established guidelines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and courteously.
  • Experience in data analysis and report compilation.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning, organization, and coordination of laboratory operations.
  • Conduct routine laboratory analyses for public health samples following established protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory, ensuring calibration and quality control.
  • Perform quality control checks upon receipt of new supplies and manage ongoing quality assurance activities.
  • Analyze and interpret laboratory data, ensuring timely reporting of results to relevant personnel.
  • Ensure all samples are processed according to established timelines and quality measures.
  • Develop and review laboratory procedures, collaborating on new testing methods to enhance public health responses.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and procedural manuals for laboratory operations.
  • Support laboratory functions through specimen collection, sample preparation, and clerical duties as needed.
  • Stay informed on disease trends and testing methodologies to improve laboratory services.
  • Communicate technical information regarding test results and methodologies to healthcare professionals and public health partners.
  • Engage with health officials promptly regarding significant public health findings.
  • Participate in public health meetings and represent the organization professionally.
  • Contribute to team goals and support the training of staff as required.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.
