Radiation Therapist

We're looking for a Radiation Therapist to administer ionizing radiation to patients under the guidance of a Radiation Oncologist. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of radiation therapy principles and practices, as well as excellent communication skills to explain procedures to patients.

• Deliver prescribed radiation therapy with minimal supervision
• Check prescriptions, diagnoses, and patient identification
• Explain procedures to patients and provide guidance on reactions to treatment
• Prepare rooms and equipment for patients according to prescriptions
• Transfer patients safely to treatment couches
• Maintain patient markings and observe for unusual reactions
• Perform simulations and assist with tumor localization procedures
• Assist with dosimetry procedures and obtain weekly port films
• Participate in departmental quality assurance and quality improvement activities

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

• Satisfactory completion of a 24-month course in radiology technology and a 12-month course in radiation therapy technology
• One year of clinical training in radiation therapy
• Current licensure as required by state or national authority and/or certification or board eligibility in radiation therapy by the American Registry of Radiology Technology
