Key Responsibilities- Assist nursing personnel in providing quality care to patients in the operating room
- Perform duties and responsibilities of a scrub person under the direction of a registered professional nurse
- Assist in obtaining supplies, equipment, and opening of operating and other rooms as necessary
- Break down setup and prepare instruments for sterilization
- Help transfer patients to the recovery room and clean and restock the operating room
- Check and gather all instruments for each case in assigned room with use of surgeon's preference card
- Check sterility tapes, dates, and integrity of wrappers
- Open sterile supplies for assigned cases, maintain a sterile field, and take immediate action to correct any breaks in technique
- Perform surgical scrub techniques and gown and glove procedures for self and surgical team
- Arrange instruments, basins, sutures, and software in a precise manner for accurate count after the completion of surgical procedures
- Assist circulating nurses with counts of all sponges, cottonoids, needles, vessels loops, umbilical tape, penrose drains, and other devices and instruments
- Use all devices and instruments appropriately and perform the standard draping technique
- Pass instruments to surgical team in a safe and efficient manner
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program
- 3-5 years of experience as a Scrub Tech in a Hospital Setting
- Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or related field
