Pharmacy Manager Job Description

Company Overview: International Staff Consulting is a leading provider of staffing solutions for the healthcare industry. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Manager to join our team.

Job Summary: The Pharmacy Manager will be responsible for leading the pharmacy department, promoting sales, and delivering exceptional customer service to support profitability goals. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of pharmacy department operations and be able to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to department personnel, promoting departmental sales and delivering exceptional customer service to support profitability goals.
  • Accurately fill prescriptions in a timely manner, complete related paperwork, and address customer inquiries regarding proper medication use.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and insurance companies to obtain and verify essential customer information.
  • Interview, hire, train, and develop pharmacy staff.
  • Plan, assign, and oversee daily work activities.
  • Conduct performance appraisals, reward outstanding performance, and address disciplinary matters.
  • Create and manage work schedules.
  • Handle partner complaints and resolve operational issues.
  • Utilize item management processes to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Review and analyze profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data.
  • Provide verbal or written summaries to upper management regarding related issues.

Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of pharmacy department operations.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Adaptability to learn new technology systems and processes.
  • Effective communication with both customers and colleagues.
  • Courteous and customer-focused demeanor.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree required.
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) certification required.
  • Current Pennsylvania Pharmacist License.
  • Current Pennsylvania Immunization License.
