About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team at WhatJobs. As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing crane components, ensuring they meet industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform analytical calculations to compute stresses developed in structural and mechanical components of cranes.
- Evaluate the static strength and fatigue life of fasteners, shafts, bearings, and gears.
- Develop programs in MathCAD, Excel, and APDL to standardize and automate calculations.
- Build detailed 3-D ANSYS models of overhead, gantry, and jib cranes to simulate behavior during seismic events.
- Perform global and local buckling analysis of crane components using eigenvalue analysis, nonlinear analysis, and analytical calculations.
- Optimize bridge girders and other crane components subjected to various geometry and functional constraints.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience performing mechanical or structural calculations for steel equipment.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
