Director of Threat Assessment and Case Management

East Carolina University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of Threat Assessment and Case Management. This critical role will oversee the university's Workplace Violence program, coordinate the University Behavioral Concerns Team (UBCT), and conduct training, threat assessments, and manage cases involving individuals posing an imminent threat or safety risk to the campus community.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and manage strategic and operational plans for the threat assessment and management program
- Conduct preliminary threat assessments, coordinate full threat assessments, and create management plans for individuals and situations posing a threat of or violent behaviors to the campus community
- Provide threat assessment response and intervention to potentially violent situations
- Review Incident Reports to determine cases that will be tracked by the University Behavioral Concerns Team (UBCT)
- Interview, investigate, and document non-criminal threat cases using Maxient (or other university-required database) and coordinate with the UBCT and CARES Team
- Master's degree in the area of social work, behavioral health, criminal justice, or any other related degree
- Five years of post-graduate experience in higher education (or equivalent higher education experience)
- Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in threat assessment and case management or a related field
- Minimum of three years of experience as a supervisor
- Doctorate degree in the area of social work, behavioral health, criminal justice, or any other related degree
- Relevant threat assessment certifications, such as Certified Threat Manager and/or QPR Suicide Prevention Instructor and membership in the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP)
- University experience with demonstrated knowledge of academic rules and regulations
