Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician II to join our team at Highmark Health. As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will play a critical role in providing distributive pharmacy services, assistance, and support for our registered pharmacists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process medication orders, including computer order entry, medication preparation, and assembling all items prior to pharmacist final check.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory and supplies according to established policies and procedures, including inspection of assigned areas and use of pharmacy computer systems.
  • Provide customer service by taking patient's prescriptions and documenting all required information, handling all customer interactions in a courteous and efficient manner, and releasing medications required by policy/procedure.
  • Validate Medicaid, Medicare, or commercial insurance drug coverage and ensure adjudication is complete, addressing any error messages, and handle cash, prepare deposits, and accounting reports.
  • Compound, stock, repack, and batch from bulk medications, prepare routine patient orders for IV pharmaceuticals, including compounding, preparation, and labeling of any IV admixture, including antibiotics, solutions, irrigations, narcotics, parenteral nutrition, and chemotherapy.
Requirements
  • Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or 1 year equivalent experience in lieu of formal training program.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT). Incumbents in role as of April 9, 2023 must achieve CPhT by 1/1/2024.
  • Preferred: 1 year of pharmacy experience in respective area.
