The Westin Portland Harborview is seeking a dedicated full-time server for our prestigious 15th-floor cocktail lounge, Top of the East. The operational hours are Monday to Thursday from 4 PM to 11 PM, and Friday to Saturday from 4 PM to 12 AM. Weekend availability is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Warmly greet guests in a professional manner.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of the menu, including ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Recommend wine and beverage pairings.
  • Accurately take food and beverage orders.
  • Ensure timely service of food and beverages.
  • Prepare itemized checks and process payments.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the lounge and restock necessary items for service.
  • Perform additional tasks such as setting up and clearing tables, escorting guests, and participating in lounge events.
  • Verify the identification of patrons to ensure compliance with age restrictions for alcohol service.
  • Deliver the highest quality of service to guests efficiently and courteously.

Qualifications:

  • Six months to one year of relevant experience; fine dining or hotel bar experience is preferred.
  • TiPS certification is required (will be provided by the hotel within the first month of employment).
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly.
  • Quickly evaluate and select among alternative courses of action.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Comply with certification requirements relevant to the position, including Alcohol Awareness and Food Handlers Safety.
  • Understand the organization of the restaurant and lounge and the function of each job position.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of menus and specials.
  • Provide guests with all food and beverage needs in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Clear, clean, and reset tables as necessary.
  • Familiarize yourself with the operation of the P.O.S. system.
  • Handle cashiering functions, including closing checks and end-of-shift paperwork.
  • Execute opening and closing procedures and side work duties as assigned.
  • Ensure tables and side stands are stocked, tidy, and clean.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
