Job Title: Family Teacher

Hope Center for Children is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Teacher to join our Transitional Living Program team. As a Family Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing individualized treatment and support to youth in our care, helping them develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive in their transition to independence.

Job Summary

The Family Teacher will work closely with youth, volunteers, and program staff to create a safe and supportive living environment that fosters positive relationships, promotes healthy habits, and encourages personal growth. This is a full-time, salaried position that requires flexibility and a commitment to working an "eight days on, six days off" schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and develop individualized treatment plans for each youth, incorporating data from assessment tools and working closely with the Case Manager and Program Supervisor.
  • Direct weekly life skill groups, focusing on independent living skills and positive youth development, and track youth attendance and progress.
  • Apply the Teaching-Family Model to daily interactions with youth, teaching target skills and promoting healthy relationships.
  • Review weekly goal sheets with each youth and meet regularly with the Case Manager to ensure target skills align with the transitional living plan.
  • Coordinate transportation needs for transitional youth and work with the Part-time Family Teacher and Program Supervisor to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Assess maintenance needs and complete a maintenance report for the Facility and Safety Supervisor weekly, working with the Case Manager and House Manager to ensure resident accountability.
  • Implement organization policy and procedures as written and complete all paperwork in a timely fashion, using organization forms.
  • Keep track of expenditures and follow the organization's fund management policy.
  • Assess and respond to youth trauma needs, applying knowledge, training, and experience to develop an individualized course of treatment.
  • Work toward professional certification in the Teaching-Family Model and provide all elements of the program as trained.
  • Remain informed about local, state, federal, and Teaching Family Association standards and regulations pertaining to the provision of services.
Requirements
  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalency and minimum of one year of experience working with children required.
  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, education, or related field from an accredited institution preferred, along with minimum of one year of experience working with children.
  • Valid SC driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Experience working with youth in foster care or youth who have experienced homelessness preferred.
  • Experience in the Teaching-Family Model preferred.
