Position Summary
Clark Testing is in search of a Sample Preparation Specialist for our coal and coke testing operations. This role involves physical labor where the specialist is responsible for collecting samples from various client locations and ensuring that all relevant procedures are accurately followed and documented upon returning to the laboratory.
This is a part-time, non-exempt hourly position, with the potential for full-time employment following a successful 90-day introductory review period. Eligible candidates may receive benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, an employee assistance program (EAP), a 401(K) plan with discretionary employer matching, as well as paid time off and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and transport 500-pound samples from client locations multiple times daily.
- Prepare all incoming samples according to specified guidelines.
- Record all daily testing data into appropriate databases or spreadsheets.
- Document and report experimental observations accurately.
- Generate necessary documentation for all tests conducted.
- Provide timely and precise analytical information to clients.
- Adhere to all standard operating procedures and assist in reviewing laboratory practices.
- Work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Support colleagues in various laboratory functions as directed by management.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.
- Engage in team activities focused on safety, cleanliness, quality improvement, and training.
Qualifications and Skills
- A High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate Degree in a physical science is advantageous.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interaction with colleagues and clients.
- Dedicated to producing high-quality work while maintaining safety standards.
- Commitment to safe laboratory practices, including the ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and company uniforms.
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, and transport objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, shift work, and holidays as necessary.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to pass drug screening and background checks.
