Project Director

The Ruhlin Company is seeking a skilled Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of projects in its Structural Division. This role is based out of the company's corporate office in Sharon Center, Ohio (Medina County) and reports to the Structural Division Manager.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan, organize, and control all resources (staff, equipment, materials, subs) for project execution.
- Lead project teams to ensure project quality, schedule, cost control, safety, and customer satisfaction objectives are met.
- Act as the primary point of contact for owners.
- Work with the Safety Director to ensure safe working conditions and safe work practices.
- Perform monthly project safety inspections.
- Monitor and ensure quality control.
- Review project proposals and plans to determine time frame, procedures, and resource allocation.
- Develop and maintain project schedules.
- Provide input and supervise pre-construction services, including purchase orders, subcontracts, and job cost setup.
- Manage financial aspects of contracts, including job margin analysis.
- Assist with conflict resolution, managing subcontractors, and staff.
- Review status reports and modify schedules or plans as required.
- Prepare project reports for company management, owners, or others.
- Manage the scope of work and maintain complete understanding of contract documents.
- Manage claims and resolve potential claims with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Participate in project coordination meetings.
- Assist with bid package definition during project buyout.
- Manage Minority Participation Goals (EEO, DBE, etc.) and hold superintendents accountable for hiring practices.
- Foster team camaraderie and mentor superintendents and project engineers.
- Document best practices and ensure best construction methods are used.
- Direct and ensure timely completion of project close-out activities.
- Protect and promote the interests of the company and ensure all compensation for work performed is received.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with key owners and architects.
- Review change orders for accuracy.
- Review and act on contractor pay requests and invoicing.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in the construction industry.
- Extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, costing, scheduling, and estimating.
- Previous experience directing craft labor in a capacity of foreman and/or superintendent.
- Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
- Ability to think ahead and plan over a one-to two-year time span.
- Outstanding time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to efficiently perform multiple tasks concurrently.
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
- Strong customer orientation.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Viewpoint Vista, HCSS Heavy Job, estimating software, and scheduling software.
