Job Title: Lifeguard

Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Department: Athletics

Reports to: Athletic Facilities Coordinator

St. Paul's School is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to provide coverage for our large-scale facility with a competitive interscholastic swim team. The successful candidate will work with a Co-Lifeguard to cover shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide Lifeguard coverage for the community and perform essential duties as a certified Red Cross Lifeguard.
  • Must be able to attend in-service training as scheduled throughout the school year.
  • Supervise and ensure safety around the pool.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures and rescue skills.
  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
Qualification Requirements:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential physical and academic duty satisfactorily.

Language Skills:
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
Reasoning Skills:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Current Red Cross lifeguard certification and CPR for Professional Rescuer/First Aid certification required.
Physical Demands:
  • Able to pass the Red Cross Pretest for Lifeguard Certification.
  • Must be a strong swimmer.

The following shifts are available:

  • Wednesday and Friday 6:00am - 7:30am
  • Sundays 1:00pm - 4:00pm
  • Shifts may be available Monday - Friday 3:30pm - 5:30pm

All shifts are for the school year, ending in June of 2025 and resuming at the end of August 2025.
