Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Apparel Designer to join our team in Minneapolis, MN. As an Apparel Designer, you will be responsible for supporting the product design team by delivering ongoing CAD and product development to meet internal and external needs. You will work closely with domestic and international design partners to manage tight deadlines and art turnarounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver CAD sketches, color, art, print, and pattern fills under tight deadlines.
  • Develop and design trend-right and compelling product to fit the needs and white space opportunities of the retailers we serve.
  • Collaborate with the design team to develop product, in partnership with development designers based on market trends, retailer needs, and white space.
  • Assist in the MNPLS office 2-3 days a week as needed by Sr Designer, tasks include: sample management, fittings, color approvals, art approvals, fabric approvals, sample organization, and shipping to buyers.
  • Work alongside the team to learn internal product design and development process.

Requirements
  • Passionate about the apparel industry and art.
  • Strong design aesthetic and eye for fashion.
  • Ability to deliver under tight deadlines and manage multiple departments' needs at once.
  • Deep understanding of specific business needs and provides insight and ideas on how to create incremental business within each category.
  • Knowledgeable in fashion and trend.
  • Proficient on Mac platforms.
  • Proficient on Adobe AI and Photoshop.
  • Quick and eager to learn.
  • Driven to innovate and execute.
  • Self-motivated with a collaborative attitude.
  • Positive, drama-free.
  • Operates well within feedback culture and strives to develop in role.
  • Passionate about developing and driving product assortments that make sense and will sell through to the customer.
  • Has design degree and/or 2-6 years experience in the fashion industry.
  • Ability to lead and manage assistant design/office management team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CAD skills.
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of fabrics, washes/treatments, and silhouettes.
  • Will be trained in PLM on the job.
  • Understands garment construction and can help train assistant designer below with the knowledge they have.
  • Can easily assess strike-off submits, lab dips, fabric swatches, and understand what is needed to be approved or not.
