Job Title: Teacher of the Handicapped

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of the Handicapped to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our educational team, you will play a vital role in providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with special needs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and cater to the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
  2. Collaborate with content teachers to modify lesson plans and ensure seamless integration of special education services.
  3. Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and adjusting instruction as needed.
  4. Communicate effectively with parents, administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational experience.
  5. Participate in school-based committees to develop and implement programming and curriculum for students with special needs.
  6. Enforce school rules and maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  7. Seek assistance from colleagues and administrators when needed to address student-related or school-related issues.
  8. Implement student-related intervention plans and other plans related to the daily operation of the program as directed by an administrator.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience
  • NJDOE Criminal History Review
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Special education teaching experience with adolescents

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Teacher of the Handicapped or one of the following certifications WITH a NJDOE Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification (or in the process of obtaining): K-8, K-12 with subject area or 7-12 with subject area
