Job Overview

The Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) TRiO Program at CCCC serves a significant number of veterans annually from various counties. This initiative aims to inspire and assist veterans in acquiring the academic and essential skills necessary for successful enrollment in postsecondary education. The program offers assessments and skill enhancement through counseling, mentoring, tutoring, and academic instruction in core subjects. The primary objective is to boost the enrollment and completion rates of participants in higher education programs.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Functions (40%)
- Maintain precise and timely records for participants, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Track data for current and past participants effectively.
- Engage in regular meetings with VUB staff to review administrative reports.
- Prepare and submit weekly progress reports.
- Conduct outreach efforts and build partnerships for recruitment among local veteran-serving organizations.
- Participate in community and veteran events to promote the program.
- Organize VUB information sessions.
- Ensure recruitment and retention of program participants from designated counties.
- Assist in communication with participants through various channels.
- Schedule appointments for program participants to meet with staff.
- Collaborate with TRiO staff for continuous program improvement.
- Attend weekly staff meetings, either in person or via conference call.
- Assist in planning local events and programs, including orientations and community outreach.
- Support mass communication efforts to participants as needed.
- Maintain a caseload of participants, providing individualized support regularly.
- Travel to service areas for recruitment and special events as required.
- Engage with community organizations to provide additional resources for veterans.
- Complete annual staff development requirements.
- Adhere to college policies and procedures.
- Occasional travel for professional development may be necessary.
- Some weekend and evening work may be required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment that values diverse perspectives and experiences.
Required Education:
- Associate degree in Education, Social Science, Counseling, Humanities, Business, or a related field, along with a minimum of one year of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of work experience and education.
- Understanding of the military/veteran student experience.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to represent the program effectively and engage in public speaking.

- Ability to work with diverse populations and backgrounds.
- Military experience or veteran status.
- Experience in office operations or educational support.
- Experience working in a TRIO program or similar initiative for disadvantaged students.
