Barry University's Center for Academic Success and Advising is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Success Coach to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic success and retention of our first-year students.
Key Responsibilities- Provide academic coaching and support to 40-60 first-year students, meeting with them on an ongoing basis to track their progress and provide guidance on academic policies and concepts.
- Develop and implement individual Academic Learning Plans (ALPs) for each student, identifying strengths and weaknesses and providing regular and intentional guidance toward improved performance.
- Assist students in establishing schedules for completion of academic work, balancing academic responsibilities/requirements with extracurricular activities, and becoming aware of and making use of campus and community resources.
- Collaborate with other departments, staff, and faculty to implement University-wide retention strategies and contribute to the development of strategies, systems, and reports for retention efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Center for Academic Success and Advising.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Student Affairs/Services, Liberal Arts, Business, Social Work, Psychology, or other related field.
- Master's degree preferred in Education, Higher Education, Education Leadership, Student Affairs/Services, Business, Business Administration, Social Work, or other related field.
- 1-3 years of work-related experience in academic advising, career services, admissions and recruitment, or other related positions in higher education.
- Intermediate analytical, project/process management, and computer skills required.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills required.
