As a special educator in this setting, you'll create customized learning experiences tailored to the specific needs of each student. Your approach will emphasize differentiated instruction, acknowledging the diversity in learning styles and abilities among your students.

You will also focus on providing holistic support, including social-emotional guidance, transition planning, and vocational preparation. Strong collaboration with colleagues and other stakeholders is key to achieving optimal results.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement flexible lesson plans reflecting individual student needs
  • Create opportunities for students to develop social-emotional intelligence and essential life skills
  • Work together with DYS staff to enhance instructional methods and improve overall student performance
  • Monitor and record student progress regularly
  • Help prepare students for post-secondary education or employment

Requirements for the Role:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • State licensure: MA license in Mild-to-Moderate Disabilities (Grades 5-12)
  • Prior experience working with vulnerable populations beneficial
  • Additional qualifications: Advanced degrees welcome; multilingual individuals encouraged to apply
