Role Summary:

Responsible for preparing, documenting, and submitting warranty claims to the manufacturer or distributor while ensuring accurate reconciliation.

In this position, you will...

  • Execute tasks as specified in the repair order with precision and efficiency, adhering to dealership and manufacturer standards.
  • Identify the root cause of malfunctions and carry out necessary repairs.
  • Coordinate with the parts department to procure required components.
  • Preserve and label parts from jobs that are under warranty or upon customer request.
  • Inspect assigned vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is needed.
  • Inform the service advisor promptly if extra work is necessary, if outlined work is unnecessary, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe.
  • Document all performed and recommended work on the repair order.
  • Conduct road tests on vehicles as required.
  • Engage in manufacturer-sponsored training programs and events.
  • Stay updated on manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Oversee the work of apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Report any machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Ensure that customer vehicles are maintained in a clean condition, promptly notifying service advisors of any changes in appearance or condition.
  • Maintain a tidy shop environment.
  • Account for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them in the same condition as received.
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA standards.
  • Operate all tools and equipment safely.
  • Report any safety concerns immediately to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A valid driver's license.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills, including the ability to:
    • Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Compose routine reports and correspondence.
    • Effectively communicate with customers and colleagues.
  • Experience with general office equipment (e.g., computers, tablets, copiers).
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Capability to multitask effectively.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to understand and execute a variety of instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to manage standardized situations with minimal variability.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
