Key Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight in the daily operations of the Wertheim Conservatory and Research greenhouses.
  • Develop and implement long-term plans for maintenance and improvements.
  • Collaborate with faculty on collection development and participate in research and teaching activities.
  • Lead the conception, development, and implementation of living collections at the Wertheim Conservatory and the International Center for Tropical Botany.
  • Organize and maintain herbarium collections at the International Center for Tropical Botany, including database activities.
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate assistants in the Wertheim Conservatory greenhouse.
  • Participate in efforts to promote and build the Wertheim Conservatory and International Center for Tropical Botany collection and acquisitions funds.
  • Serve as a Principal Investigator and co-Principal Investigator on external funding proposals related to research, training, and infrastructure in plant sciences.
  • Perform scholarly research on the collections at the Wertheim Conservatory and the International Center for Tropical Botany.
  • Maintain and develop educational displays at the Wertheim Conservatory and the International Center for Tropical Botany.
  • Take an active role in the operations and maintenance of the facilities at the Wertheim Conservatory and the International Center for Tropical Botany.
Requirements
  • A Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or a related field.
