Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mathematics Education Specialist to join our team at Baltimore City Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing mathematics curriculum and assessments, providing professional development to teachers, and serving as a district content expert in mathematics instruction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement mathematics curriculum and assessments for elementary grades
  • Provide professional development to teachers on best practices in mathematics instruction
  • Serve as a district content expert in mathematics instruction, providing support and guidance to teachers and school teams
  • Coordinate and develop curriculum and assessments for mathematics, ensuring alignment with state and national standards
  • Use data to inform instruction and drive decision-making, ensuring that mathematics education is equitable and effective for all students
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Education or related field
  • Three years of teaching experience in mathematics, with experience teaching multiple grade levels preferred
  • Valid Maryland State Department of Education Advanced Professional Certificate
  • Three years of experience developing and delivering professional development to teachers, with experience at the district level preferred
  • Strong organization and strategic planning skills, with ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment
  • Experience managing large-scale projects and leading a productive team
  • Knowledge of current research in mathematics best practices and adult learning and facilitation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including teachers, school administrators, and community members
